Wow, its another day bringing with it other challenges and presures which I put together and call 'life'. Its a different chapter of life. I should say I was finding it difficult to wake up this morning owing to the fact that the wheather is a bit on the cold side than was yesterday and the day before. You see, I am in a foreign country,South Africa, Grahamstown, Port Elizabeth to be precise, which I like very much, but my point is I am coming from a country where summer is the current season and I was just beginning to enjoy it when my trip to here came up. So I said good buy for now, to Zambia and upon coming here was at pains to adjust to the wheather. Its cold in Grahamstown!
So now today I wake up and I am faced with this asignment, to find a story idea for a video production that I will do about this town.
Lets see: How about something about the social life of Grahamstown. The town strikes me as one serious academic place, coz everything that happens here, revolves around the Rhodes University, one of, if not the best in South Africa and highly recognised world widely. The students, lecturers and other people associated with the school are what make the town tick. There are restuarants, shops night clubs ,where you find mostly students either working or consuming the products, but when you look around during day time, and sometimes night time, all you see are people who's minds are evidently focused on where they are going, books in their hands and rushing to whereever they are going, eg class or libraries. Everybody looks so serious and determined to grab every single opportunity that comes along to make the best out of their lives. That is more of what you see, everything in order.
Wait until you go to the night clubs in the night. What you see would be the opposite of an orderly life. There you find the same people you see so serious during day time and at Campus grooving like no man's business, drinking to the fullest and doing evrything that apease them and do it like they just dont care....Its one thing that I cant say about other universities, so that could be intersting. There is more detail that surrounds this part of social life and there are other types such as the general entertainments like the art festivals, etc. let me safely say, I would like to find out how people spend their lesure time here, talk about how many night clubs are there, who owns them and what goes on. Are there any pros and cons? which type of entertainment people favour most and so on and so fourth.
There! you have a rough idea of what I am looking for and want to talk about.
Look out for what will come out of it.
